Social Service Camp held at Bhadrak by Red Cross Odisha State Branch


Bhubaneswar, 10.08.2013 – Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch(IRCS-OSB) & Youth Red Cross in collaboration with District Red Cross branch organised a Social Service Camp on 9th August, 2013 at Idgah in Kuansa of Bhadrak district on the occasion of Id-Ul-Fitre. The main objective of this Social Service Camp was to strengthen the communal harmony, unity in diversity and spirit of brotherhood beside distribution of drinking water, Rooh Afza Sarabat, biscuit & essential generic medicines to the Muslim brothers by Red Cross youth volunteers & members and create awareness among the local communities.REDCROSS Bhadrakh
Sri Jugal Kishore Pattanik, Hon’ble M.L.A, Bhadrak & former Minister as Chief Guest, Sri Laxmi Narayan Mishra, Collector & Chairman, District Red Cross Branch, Bhadrak inaugurated the social service camp. Dr. Mangala Prasad Mohanty, Honorary Secretary, IRCS-OSB presided over and Dr. Sarita Supkar, Youth Red Cross Officer coordinated the inaugural session of the camp. The District Emergency Officer & Secretary, District Red Cross Branch. Bhadrk, Joint Secretary, District Red Cross Branch, Bhadrak and Life members of the District branch also participated.
More than 200 Red Cross volunteers consisting Youth Red Cross counsellors & volunteers, Junior Red Cross counsellors, Red Cross Cyclone shelter volunteers of Ratanga, Red Cross members, Jan Aushadhi Pharmacists, District Red Cross volunteers and staff members of IRCS-OSB actively participated in the camp. They distributed drinking water, Rooh Afza Sarabat, biscuit & essential generic medicine to the Muslim brothers after the Namaj and distributed awareness materials on Dengu, Diarhoea, Malaria, Water & Sanitation, Flood, Cyclone, Jan Aushadhi generic medicine, Seven Fundamental Principles along with Aim & Objectives of Red cross to the public.
Sri Prafulla Samal, M.L.A & former Minister, Chairman, Zilla Parisad, Janab Abdul Bari, President, Sk. Inam Mohammad, Secretary of 14 Mahala Committee and renowned persons from the locality visited to the camp and greatly appreciated the initiative of the Red Cross. Such Social Service Camp was held for the first time as per suggestion given by Sri Badri Narayan Patra, Hon’ble Minister, Higher Education & Chairman, YRC Working Committee. The programme was coordinated by the Dr. Mangala Prasad Mohanty, Honorary Secretary, IRCS-OSB supported by Dr. Sarita Supkar, Youth Red Cross Officer along with YRC councellors & volunteers, DRCB Bhadrak officials and members.
